Paper N Glue – Blue Peter creations for grown-ups!
Within Working Without a Model, sessions with schools and other groups, people have created models out of basic materials such as card, paper and glue.
This is a relaxing session where you can make anything from a door plaque to model buildings and cars and more, using simple materials like paper and glue that we are all familiar with.
An opportunity to make and chat, no pressure to produce something complicated, perfect or even realistic. The fun is in the making, the result may surprise you.
Initially we will aim for something quite straightforward such as a door plaque – a picture, a word or two, whatever you like, or if you prefer a simple building like a shed or greenhouse. After that the sky is the limit – tell me what you want to make, find a photo or something to copy and we will get going on it.
Most of the basic models are made of cardboard, masking tape and newspaper and covered with a sort of papier mache layer of newspaper and glue to strengthen and neaten. Other materials might be used for some models - I have used bamboo, plastic and mod roc (a sort of plaster bandage). I will be there all the way to help if and when needed and there are bits where everyone can just work unaided. More complex models can take more than one session.
Do bring along information of other things you would like to create so we can plan for next time.
The story behind this…….. As a child I was forever making all sorts of things out of paper and cardboard, glue and Sellotape. I still do this, but now it is with other people, often one to one or in schools, helping adults and children with a range of abilities to create all sorts - masks, buildings, hats, even cars and toy furniture. We have worked from photos, objects and imagination. Sometimes I have even got to create something entirely by myself! It is so therapeutic, I want to make this available to more people, so here it is!
All I need to do now is find enough cardboard!! (at least I no longer have to explain to anyone why all the glue and Sellotape has disappeared again!)
All materials supplied, absolutely no abilities needed.
